Today in Sports History: April 14

On April 14, 1985, Mark Eaton of the Utah Jazz ended the 1984-85 season with 456 blocked shots for an average of 5.56 bpg, both NBA records. Eaton played his entire 11-year career with the Jazz, and while he never put together much of an offensive game, he was one of the best defensive centers in NBA History. Eaton won two NBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards, was selected to three All-Defensive First Teams, and lead the league in blocks four times. Despite playing only 11 seasons, he stands at fourth all-time among the NBA’s career block leaders. To learn more about Mark, listen to his interview on the Legends Of Sport Podcast!
