On August 20, 2000, Tiger Woods beat Bob May in a legendary 3-hole playoff to win the PGA Championship for his third consecutive major victory. With the win, Woods won his third major of the calendar year, becoming only the second golfer to accomplish that feat and the first golfer since Ben Hogan in 1953 to do it. As is well known, Woods went on to be one of the most dominant golfers of all time, winning 14 majors of his career and bringing a phenomenon and buzz around him that may never be recreated. To this day, he is one of the most popular golfers around, with his second-place finish at the 2018 PGA Championship creating some of the most buzz and highest TV ratings for a golf event in years.
