On this day in 2014, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Love, who was one of the league’s top power forwards at the time, would be a key piece for the Cavaliers championship runs. With LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, Cleveland’s big three dominated the east from 2014-2018. During this run, the Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals four seasons in a row. Love played a pivotal role in the Cavalier’s 2015-2016 championship season, averaging 16 points, 2.4 assists, and 9.9 rebounds. The Cavaliers would defeat the warriors following a historic 3-1 comeback. Finally, the curse was lifted. After 52 years, Cleveland was once again a city of champions.
