On August 24, 2008, The USA basketball team—known as the Redeem Team—beat Spain 118-107 in the finals to bring the gold medal back to US basketball after a disappointing bronze medal showing in 2004. Team USA was led by Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, all of whom averaged 15 points or more per game in the eight Olympic games.
