NBA greats Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen faced off against each other fir the first and only time on this day in 2002. Jordan, on his second pro return was playing for the Washington Wizards while Pippen was suited up for the Portland Trail Blazers. Pippen tallied 14 points, seven assists and five rebounds; helping the Trail Blazers to a 98-79 victory.Â
The former Chicago Bulls teammates are known to have a contentious relationship. Pippen joined the team in 1987 and soon became part of one of the league’s most celebrated duos. In 1991, the Bulls secured a championship and entered into what would become one of the most celebrated periods in NBA history.
