Today in Sports History: February 19

In 2017, the 66th NBA All-Star Game took place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The West Conference beat the East Conference 192-182. The All-Star Most Valuable Player was the New Orleans Pelicans forward, Anthony Davis. 

Davis scored 52 points, shooting 26-for-39, averaging 66.7 percent from the field and 0-for-4 from the three-point line. He had 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and one turnover. 

Throughout his career, Davis was drafted to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2012 and played until 2018. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he currently plays. He has been named an eight-time NBA All-Star four-time All-Defensive Team, four-time All-NBA Team, and one All-Rookie Team. 

He has been awarded one NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player and one Olympic Gold Medal. Davis won one championship ring in 2020 with the Lakers and was a part of the 2012 USA Men’s basketball team that won the Gold Medal in the London Olympics.
