In 2019, Argentine soccer player, Lionel Messi, scored his 50th hat-trick of his career as FC Barcelona beat Sevilla 4-2 in the Spanish La Liga. Messi had spent 21 seasons playing with FC Barcelona and had recently started a new chapter playing for the French club, Paris Saint-Germain. He also plays with the Argentina National soccer team. 

With FC Barcelona, Messi won the La Liga title ten times, the Uefa Champions League four times, and most recently won his seventh Ballon d’Or award in 2021. 

During his playing career with Argentina, Messi has a record of 158 appearances in which he has thus far, scored 80 goals and had 47 assists. Argentina won the 2021 Copa America with Messi as the top goal-scorer throughout the tournament. Messi and Argentina also won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. 

Throughout his club and country career, he has had 759 goals and 322 assists within 957 appearances. He continued scoring hat-tricks up to five more, totaling 55 hat-tricks in his career. 

He has been awarded the Ballon d’Or seven times in 2009, 2020, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021. He was also a 2x Best FIFA Men’s player, 3x Uefa Best Player in Europe, 5x Golden Boot winner, 4x World Cup participant, four-time Champions League winner, 3x FIFA Club World Cup winner, 10x Spanish Champion, 3x Player of the Tournament, 6x Best Assists, 1x All-time leading scorer, 22x Top scorer, and 10x Player of the Year.
