On this day in 2010, Phil Jackson recorded his 534th win as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach. This victory officially made him the winningest coach in Lakers franchise history surpassing Pat Riley. Jackson coached the Lakers for eleven seasons and finished with 610 wins as Lakers head coach. In total, Jackson recorded 1,155 victories over his entire 19 seasons as head coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Jackson was a phenomenal coach and his coaching style focused on the triangle offensive and was influenced by spiritual traditions. Jackson’s leadership is based on his studies on human psychology, Native American philosophy, and Zen meditation. His innovative leadership style paid off and made Jackson the most successful coach in NBA history; winning 11 NBA championships.
