Today in Sports History: February 5

In 2017, with one of the greatest comebacks in sports, the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl LI, at the NRG Stadium, in Houston, Texas. This was the 5th Super Bowl win for the New England Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. Prior to this win, the Patriots have won the Super Bowl in 2015, 2005, 2004, and 2002. They went on and won another ring in 2019.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was awarded the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player for completing 43 passes out of 62 attempts, throwing 466 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. 

Brady has also won the Super Bowl MVP in 2002, 2004, and 2015. He was awarded the NFL AP MVP in the seasons of 2007, 2010, and 2017. He was awarded the Bert Bell Award, Player of the Year, in 2007, and the NFL AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and 2010. He was also named the NFL AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2009. He was a 14x-Pro Bowl selection with 3 All-Pro selections.
