Today in Sports History: February 8

On February 8, 1986, 5-foot-7 Spud Webb beat his Atlanta Hawks teammate, Dominique Wilkins, to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. With the win, Webb became the shortest ever player to win a dunk contest, and remains the shortest to this day, with the closest being the 5-foot-9 Nate Robinson. Besides being the shortest player to ever win a dunk contest, only two players in the NBA have been shorter than Webb since he made his debut—Muggsy Bogues and Earl Boykins.
