On this day in 2016, Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat blocked 11 shots in a 98-95 win over the Denver Nuggets. The 33rd pick in the 2010 NBA draft, Whiteside had a breakout season in 2014-15 and became one of only four NBA players to record a 20 point and 20 rebound game shooting 90 percent from the field. In 2016, Whiteside resigned with the Miami Heat on a four-year $98 million max contract. He became the only player in NBA history to go from a league minimum salary to a maximum salary. Whiteside’s accolades in the NBA include NBA All-Defensive Second team (2016), Nba rebounding leader, and 2x NBA blocks leader. In 2019, Whitside set a Trail Blazers’ franchise record for blocks in a single game with 10 blocks. Whiteside currently plays for the Sacramento Kings.
