On January 17, 2014, Kevin Durant dropped a career-high 54 points against the Golden State Warriors in a 127-121 win. With his partner-in-crime Russell Westbrook injured for most of the season, Durant had to carry the load for the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 32 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. Durant would be named the NBA’s MVP that season and led the Thunder to the sixth game of the Western Conference Finals before being eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs. Durant would stay with the Thunder for two more seasons, during the latter of which the Thunder were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals by the Warriors after going up 3-1 in the series. After the Warriors lost in the NBA Finals after they themselves took a 3-1 lead, Durant controversially left the Thunder and one of the greatest duos in NBA history to form one of the greatest teams in NBA history, the Warriors — since then he has won two NBA Championships and two Finals MVP Awards.
