On this day in 2018, then Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony became the 21st player to reach 25,000 career points after a free throw in the third quarter against the Detroit Pistons. At the time, Anthony scored 13,970 points with the Denver Nuggets, 10,186 points with the New York Knicks and 845 with the OKC Thunder. The 3rd pick in the 2003 NBA draft, Anthony currently plays for the Portland Trailblazers and is ranked no. 14 on the NBA All-Time Points Leaders list with 26,604 points. Anthony is known for his prolific scoring abilities which include a silky smooth spin move and a signature fadeaway shot. Anthony boasts impressive career averages of 23.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steal over 17 NBA seasons. Anthony’s accolades include 6x All-NBA Team selections, 3x Olympic gold medal, 6x All-NBA Team, NBA scoring champion (2013), and 10x NBA All-Star.
