On July 31, 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, and two first-round draft picks. The deal was the largest NBA trade ever for one player, yet was still considered a win for Boston, giving them a new Big Three of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Garnett. Garnett would remain with the Celtics for six seasons, leading them to an NBA title in his first season in Boston. He was also named NBA Defensive Player of the Year during the 2007-08 season.
