On July 9, 1968, Wilt Chamberlain was traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Los Angeles Lakers for Darrell Imhoff, Archie Clark, Jerry Chambers, and cash. This was the first time a reigning NBA Most Valuable Player was traded the next season, and Chamberlain was given an unprecedented at the time $250,000 contract. Chamberlain would finish his career in Los Angeles, averaging 17.7 points, 19.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game over five seasons. He was also a leader on the Lakers 1972 championship team, a season where they set the all-time record with a 33-game winning streak.Â
