Kwame Brown became the first high school player to be selected as no. 1 in the 2002 NBA Draft. The Washington Wizards selected Brown from his high school Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia. Brown was named to the 2001 McDonald’s All-American Team and averaged 20.1 points, 133 rebound, 5.8 blocks, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game while in highs school. In his rookie year with the Wizards, Brown averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He spent 12 years in the NBA and played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers.
