Today in Sports History: March 12

On March 12, 1998, Hakeem Olajuwon joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history with at least 24,000 points, 12,000 rebounds and 2,500 assists. Olajuwon is considered one of the greatest centers in NBA history, and being in this exclusive club with two of the greatest players in NBA history helps make a strong argument for him being considered an all-time great among them. “The Dream” is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, was the number one draft pick in a draft that included Michael Jordan, two-time NBA Champion, two-time NBA Finals MVP, one-time NBA MVP, among other achievements and accolades. Olajuwon is the only player in NBA history to win NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same season (1993-94).
