In 2020, after 20 years with the New England Patriots, six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady officially agreed to move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a 2-year $50m guaranteed deal. The deal proved to be well worth it, as Brady only needed one season to lead the Buccaneers to win their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history. Playing against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, the Buccaneers dominated the matchup winning 31-9. Brady threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns to earn his 5th Super Bowl MVP. At age 40, Brady is both the oldest Super Bowl MVP and quarterback to start in the Super Bowl. Brady’s 34 playoff wins is the most by any quarterback, Joe Montana trails in second place with only 16 wins. Brady’s other accolades include 4x NFL passing touchdowns leader, 3x NFL passing yards leader, 3x NFL MVP, 7x Super Bowl Champion, and 14x Pro Bowl selections. Recently, Brady signed a four-year contract extension that voids to a one-year extension. The additional voidable years help defray the cost. Brady wants to run it back with the Buccaneers squad and the extension saves the team $19 million against the salary cap for the following season.
