In 1991, Reggie Miller began a 52 consecutive free throw streak which would not end until March 18. Miller spent all 18 years of his NBA career as a shooting guard with the Pacers and distinguished himself as a skilled three-point shooter. He was the first Pacer to start an NBA All-Star Game (1995) and also made the All-Star team in 1990, 1996, 1998, and 2000. At the time of his retirement, in 2005, he held the record for 3-point field goals at 2,560. The record was later broken by Ray Allen in 2011. Miller is one of only eight NBA players who reached the 50–40–90 club which consists of players who shot 50% or better from the field, 40% or better from three-point range, and 90% or better from the free throw line in a single season. Miller was part of the US national team for the 1994 FIBA World Championship and the Olympic men’s basketball team in 1996, both teams won gold. Miller was awarded the the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year award in 2002 despite playing limited minutes due to injuries.The Pacers retired Miller’s no. 31 jersey in 2006 and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. Miller currently works as an NBA commentator on TNT.
