Today in Sports History: May 18

On May 18, 2004, 40-year-old Diamondback pitcher Randy Johnson pitched a perfect game against the Atlanta Braves. Johnson became the oldest pitcher in MLB history to record a perfect game. There have been only 23 perfect games in Major League Baseball’s 140-plus year history. Johnson was one of the most intimidating pitchers of all-time, winning five Cy Young Awards and a World Series MVP Award, to go along with leading his league in strikeouts nine times.
