In 1987, Magic Johnson became the first guard in 23 years to win the NBA MVP award. Johnson averaged 23.9 ppg and led the league in assists with a 12.2 per game average. Johnson was part of the Showtime Era Lakers and led the team to nine NBA Finals and five championships. He is remembered for his signature flair and at 6’9″ is the tallest player to play point guard for the team. He earned three NBA MVP trophies, 12 All-Star selections, 138 triple-doubles (second all-time) and averages of 19.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.
