Mike Schmidt hit his 535th homer in 1988, putting him in 8th place for career homers. Schmidt edited his career with 548 homers and spent his entire 18-season MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was selected as the 30th overall pick in the 1971 MLB draft. He was known for his unusual batting stance and powerful hits. Schmidt was a 12-time All-Star and a three-time winner of the National League MVP award. He won the Golden Glove ten times for his performance as a third baseman and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995. Schmidt is the highest rankin third baseman, at number 28, The Sporting News’s list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players 1999 list. In 2015, fans elected him to the Phillies “Franchise Four” alongside Steve Carlton, Richie Ashburn, and Robin Roberts.
