In 2021, professional tennis player, Naomi Osaka, decided to pull out of the French Open due to her mental health. She refused to comment to the press at the post-match press conferences.

In 2019, Osaka was ranked no. 1 in the world and holds the title of becoming the first Japanese professional tennis player to win an Australian singles title. Osaka won 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 over Czech Republic professional tennis player, Petra Kvitová.

Osaka won two Grand Slam championships including the U.S. Open in 2018, where she defeated Serena Williams, and in 2020 where she defeated Victoria Azarenka. She also won the 2019 Australian Open and 2021 Australian Open. Thus far, she has won seven singles titles.

Osaka has made it very clear that this subject does not get spoken about enough and is treaty so lightly. When Osaka pulled out of the tournament, she made a point to others, that no matter what is wrong, always put yourself and your health first, take care of yourself, and make sure you are okay. When Osaka made the decision to pull out, other athletes and celebrities were applauding and praised her for voicing how she feels and taking the time to work on herself.
