Today in Sports History: November 2

On November 2, 1995, Joe Torre was named manager of the New York Yankees after being of and Mets and Braves from 1977-1984. Torre would be the manager of the Yankees until 2007, leading them to the playoffs 12 seasons in a row and four World Series, including three in a row from 1998 to 2000. Torre was named AL manager of the year twice during his time with the Yankees. Torre served as manager of the Dodgers for three years after leaving the Yankees and now serves as the Chief Baseball Officer of the MLB.
