In 1971, Lakers forward Elgin Baylor retired after a 846-game NBA career. Over his 14-years, Baylor scored 23,149 points and was known for his acrobatic jump shots, according to NBA.com. Baylor was the number one draft pick in 1958 and won Rookie of the Year his first season. In 1960, he scored a then-record 71 points during regular season game. He still holds the record for most points scored in Game 5 of the NBA Finals – 61 points scored in 1962. Baylor was selected for the All-NBA First Team 10-times and played in 11 NBA All-Star Games. After knee-injuries took him off the court, Baylor became assistant coach to the New Orleans Jazz in 1974 then worked as vice president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Clippers until age 74 (2008). He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1977 and won NBA Executive of the Year in 2006.
