Today in Sports History: October 13

On October 13, 1993, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, in their inaugural season, won their first game after starting the season 0-2. They beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, where they played their first five games of the season. The Ducks finished their first season 33-46-5 and failed to make the playoffs as the ninth-place team in the west. The Ducks would make their postseason debut in their fourth season of play, and won the Stanley Cup in 2007, the first and only championship in the franchise’s history.
