On this day in 2019, the Atlanta Hawks signed 42-year-old free agent Vince Carter to a one-year $2.39 million dollar contract. It was the last dance for one of the most durable players in NBA history. Carter is the only player in league history to play 22 seasons, a career that spanned from 1998 to 2020. The legendary player was a star from the get-go, winning the Rookie of the Year Award when he averaged 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks. Throughout his career, Carter was known for his immense athleticism and often called the greatest dunker in NBA history. Carter’s accolades include NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion, All-NBA Third Team, All-NBA Second Team, and 8x All-Star.
